June Updates & New Tools!

EMAC_admin | July 2, 2021, 3:04 p.m.

Hello Exoplaneteers! The EMAC catalog is up to 100+ tools and resources, 53 of which have either a WebApp or interactive Jupyter Notebook button for users to "test drive" the tool or resource. For contributors that wish to add a Jupyter Notebook or web application to their tool entry, email us at gsfc-emac@mail.nasa.gov to receive your submissions editing link. With this link you can add your own interactive Jupyter Notebook or web application, and also add or edit anything else. If you wish to create a web application but need help, we are more than happy to offer the services of our Technical Team. Send us an email with your request and we will work together. Some examples of EMAC's web application capabilities include entries such as HARDCORE, Lightkurve, Exoplanet Composition Interpolator, and TPFplotter. Last month, science team member Nick Susemiehl gave a short talk at the spring Chesapeake Bay Area Exoplanet Meeting (CHEXO) on all the progress EMAC has made in the last year or so. Click here to watch the 5 minute flash talk titled, "New Enhancements to the Exoplanet Modeling & Analysis Center". We have added 4 new tools!

  • SparseBLS: Box-Fitting Least Squares implementation for sparse data
  • Pyratbay: A Forward-modeling and retrieval code to model exoplanet atmospheres and spectra
  • KOBE: Kepler Observes Bern Exoplanets
  • Hypatia Catalog: Database of stellar elemental abundances for solar neighborhood stars
Lastly, we want to give a big shout-out to Apexa Patel! Apexa is a talented web developer who has been with us since 2018. We are sad to announce that she is leaving our team for another opportunity, but we could not be happier for her. Apexa’s contributions to EMAC have been crucial to its success. There are no words to express our gratitude for all her hard work and contributions to EMAC and to the overall Exoplanet Community. Apexa, we wish you the best for your future! Make sure to subscribe to our YouTube channel for weekly demo tutorials and follow us on Twitter @ExoplanetModels for more updates! Happy Exploring! Stay tuned for more new features coming next month.
